What is Web Blocker?
Web Blocker is our way of providing Web site (URL) filtering capabilities. It is a comprehensive tool and interface for defining what type of Web sites users are allowed to view.
Through our Web Blocker service you can determine the who, when, and what of Web surfing you want to allow, and our security experts make it happen. If you like, we can separate your organization into groups or departments (who), decide what hours they are free to access the World Wide Web (when) and what categories of Web sites they may visit (what). In fact, we can differentiate between the sites users can visit during business hours and the sites available during non-business hours.
We use a database that places websites into categories such as "gambling", "sports and leisure" or "sexual acts". Our security experts work with you to determine the initial configuration you require. We then check the database on a daily basis and upload any changes to your GuardDog security appliance. In addition, we make ongoing changes to your profile as you request them. We even provide an exceptions control to customize any of the Web Blocker database settings.
How do I monitor web usage for necessary changes?

Our GuardDog Web Blocker feature logs and generates reports dealing with denials, database download results and usage patterns. Access attempts are logged displaying information about who is accessing what, as well as the blocked URL and what categories caused the denial.
Best of all, you don't have to wait for a monthly hardcopy report to land on your desk to know what's going on within your organization. GuardDog delivers these reports on demand, via a secure extranet. You can view the information in a daily, weekly, or monthly format. You're always "in the know", all at the click of a mouse.
