Step 1: Barcode Tracking
The process begins at check-in with each piece being assigned a unique barcode. Our advanced inventory system allows us to track the product during the certification and refurbishing process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of your order. It also allows our staff access to instantaneous information about that specific unit, making it easier to answer any questions after the sale.
Step 2: Physical External Inspection
Every piece of hardware that arrives at our facility is subjected to a complete physical external inspection. Our engineers are looking not only for physical damage, but are also on the lookout for counterfeit equipment. Any item that arrives in unacceptable condition is immediately rejected.
Step 3: Physical Internal Inspection
If you've ever bought a used car, you've probably looked under the hood. So do we. At this step our engineers remove covers and doors and look inside. We make sure everything is correct and all the components are from the original manufacturer. We also carefully clean any dust and debris while adhering to strict anti-static procedures.
Step 4: Audit - Per Manufacture Components
While the cover is off, the critical process of thoroughly auditing the unit for completeness is undertaken. We check to ensure that everything necessary to complete that item is there. This includes everything from memory to flash to power supplies to rails. If anything is missing we reject it.
Step 5: Diagnostic Testing
After the equipment's internal inspection and audit, our engineers run a series of extensive diagnostic tests. Each part is analyzed to ensure that it passes its functional tests before moving on.
Step 6: Reset Factory Defaults
To ensure you'll never receive a product still configured with its previous owner's confidential information or passwords, all previous configurations are wiped clean and the product is reset to original factory defaults.
Step 7: Update / Record Revisions & Firmware
Once the diagnostic testing is passed and the unit is reset to factory defaults, our engineers record vital hardware revisions and firmware levels of each unit. This information is tracked and stored in our inventory database for immediate reference, should the need arise.
Step 8: Live Testing
A diagnostic test can only confirm so much. Sometimes problems like error logging, heating issues, or proper I/O functionality can only be identified by a live test in a working environment. So at this point, we put each unit through its paces in a working environment to guarantee proper functionality before moving on.
Step 9: Reconditioning
Now we make sure the item won't look out of place in your gleaming data center. We clean the item, touch up the paint if necessary, and if the item is static sensitive, we seal it in proper anti-static protective materials. And last but not least, we make sure you get a power cord!
Step 10: R1 Certified Quality Inspection
Everything is reviewed one last time in the final quality inspection step. After all the testing and inspection, the hardware is ready for its' R1 certification. This R1 seal is your guarantee of both reliability and performance.
Step 11: Expert Packaging
Your product is finally ready for delivery to you, but before it moves on, we take care and pride to package it properly so it arrives on your dock just like it left ours. No messy "peanuts" or reused packaging materials; we use state-of-the-art foam in place packaging so it arrives safely and doesn't cause a mess on your dock. In addition, each shipment is accompanied by detailed documentation, to help speed your receiving process. It's all about "Making IT Easy" for you.
